Other organisations that may be able to help young people

Coram – a group of charities who all work to improve lives of children and young people.

The Law Society: Find a Solicitor – a free service for anyone looking for information about organisations or people providing legal services in England and Wales.

IPSEA – a charity offering free and independent legally based information, advice and support to help get the right education for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Citizens Advice – network of independent charities offering free confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person.

Shelter – helps people struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services.

Civil Legal Advice – You might be able to get free and confidential advice from Civil Legal Advice as part of legal aid if you’re in England or Wales.

The Children's Society – has a network of children’s centres and projects which can offer support to vulnerable children.

The Hideout – a website that provides help, information and support for children and young people affected by domestic violence. 

Pause - Creating Space for Change – offers intensive support to vulnerable young women.

Right Balance – a Camden Council initiative supporting at-risk children.

North London Commissioning – a partnership initiative supporting eight London Boroughs to work with children’s residential care providers.

Building My Future – works with children with complex needs in Ealing.

Inside Out – an Essex-based project that provides support for children who have had multiple placement moves.

SafeCore – addresses violence within families leading to children’s services referrals in Greenwich.

House Project – a national young person-led project for care leavers.

NewDay – a domestic abuse programme working with families in Newham.

 

Mental health support for young people

ChildLine – a counselling service for children and young people. You can contact ChildLine on 0800 1111, send them an email, have a 1-2-1 chatsend a message to Ask Sam, or post messages to the ChildLine message boards.

Samaritans – available round the clock to provide a safe place for anyone struggling to cope.

Shout – free 24/7 text service for anyone in crisis anytime, anywhere. It’s a place to go if you’re struggling to cope and you need immediate help.

Hearted – a platform that connects people with volunteers to talk about whatever you want. 

Mind – offers confidential help on a range of mental health issues.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) – works to prevent male suicide and offers support services for any man who is struggling or in crisis.

Papyrus – support for anyone under 35 experiencing thoughts of suicide, or anyone concerned that a young person may be experiencing thoughts of suicide.

Kooth.com – an online counselling service that provides vulnerable young people, between the ages of 11 and 25, with advice and support for emotional or mental health problems.

YoungMinds – support and advice on mental health and emotional wellbeing for children and young people.

The Mix – support service for young people facing challenges from mental health to money, from homelessness to finding a job.

Students Against Depression – a website offering advice, information, guidance and resources to those affected by low mood, depression and suicidal thinking.
