After three years as a Youth Advocate, initially working with young people in South London and later leading JfKL’s Young Parents Project, Sophie took up the role of Development Manager in January 2019.
Before Joining JfKL, Sophie was the Programme Manager for the education charity Access Aspiration which she helped to set up in 2013. Sophie has been involved with a range of voluntary projects aimed at supporting vulnerable children and young people, particularly in the context of education and social inclusion. She has worked on school exclusion cases as a lay advocate for BPP School Exclusions Project. Sophie was also a school governor for 9 years and a Community Panel Member in Hackney where she worked with young offenders.
Since being elected in a by-election in 2016, Sophie has been a Councillor in the London Borough of Hackney, where she chairs the Children and Young People Scrutiny Commission.
