Children and young people’s rights have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, with their health, education, and material wellbeing negatively impacted for years to come. We stand up for children and young people, ensuring that their voices are heard, and their rights and entitlements are met.

    Situation

During the pandemic, children and young people’s rights have been forgotten and their lives have been put on hold. Black, Asian, and minority ethnic children and young people have been disproportionately targeted, arrested, and detained during the pandemic while criminal hearings have been delayed, jobs have been lost, and access to a quality education has been far from guaranteed. As a result, the pandemic has left many children and young people in great need of legal and advocacy support.

    Solution

We help children and young people navigate challenges with our unique casework model combining direct advocacy, development opportunities, legal advice and representation. Young people are supported by advocates and lawyers providing a joined-up package of help. They use expert knowledge of relevant systems to prioritise rights, working with clients for as long as they need. We will also campaign for a child-centred coronavirus recovery plan to ensure children are central to decision-making.
