We are pleased to announce that Just for Kids Law will now be Co-Led by our Co-Founder and Legal Director, Aika Stephenson and Director of the Children’s Right Alliance for England (CRAE), Louise King. Aika Co-Founded the Charity in 2006 and Louise joined Just for Kids Law in 2015. Between them they have a wealth of expertise in a broad range of areas including children’s rights, trauma informed and anti-racist legal advice and representation and policy and public affairs, alongside many years’ experience of senior charity leadership, governance and fundraising.
Going forwards, Just for Kids Law will have a new strategic focus on trauma informed, anti-racist, innovative legal representation to children and young people in contact with the criminal justice system and will use evidence from this case work to fight for systematic change, including tackling racial disproportionality. It will also continue to host CRAE, which works with its members to hold the UK Government to account on its child rights obligations and pushes for change so that government decision-making respects the rights of all children.
